Mental Health Club

Mental Health Club

Mental Health Club has been constituted in the college with the support of the Department of Psychology in association with IQAC. The club designs programmes to promote mental well-being, raise awareness of psychological health, and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. It provides a safe and supportive space for students to express themselves, develop coping strategies, and acquire life skills essential for emotional resilience and holistic development.

MENTAL HEALTH CLUB - INAUGURATION

The formal launch of Alma Fiesta ’22 successfully generated excitement and awareness, emphasizing creativity and collaboration. It included an inaugural address, introduction of the theme, and a presentation on planned events. A key focus was mental health awareness, with the Psychology Department leading an interactive session on well-being and distributing informational materials. The launch concluded with vibrant student performances, blending celebration with meaningful engagement for the academic community.

The “Alma Fiesta 2K23 – Drawing Competition”, organized by the Department of Psychology with the Mental Health Club, Fine Arts Club, and IQAC, was held at 1:30 PM in M8 to promote creativity and mental well-being. PSYCHOLOGY EXHIBITION

PSYCHOLOGY EXHIBITION

The Mental Health Day Exhibition, organized by the Department of Psychology with the Mental Health Club and IQAC on 13 October 2023, was held at the Psychology Lab and M18. The exhibition featured informative and interactive displays on mental health topics, encouraged reflection and stress-relief activities, and promoted awareness, resource sharing, and open discussions on emotional well-being among students and staff.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT CLASS

An Interactive Session on “Disaster Management Class” was organized on 09 September 2024 by the Department of Psychology with the Mental Health Club, NSS, and IQAC to enhance awareness on disaster preparedness. Ms. Afsaana M A welcomed the gathering, followed by the Principal’s inauguration. The session by Ms. Dhanya Abid covered disaster types, emergency response, evacuation, and recovery through interactive discussions and demonstrations. Active student participation made the programme informative and engaging, concluding with a vote of thanks.

INTERACTIVE SESSION ON “THE ART OF RESILIENCE AND WELLBEING"

An Interactive Session on “The Art of Resilience and Wellbeing” was organized on 09 October 2024 by the Department of Psychology in association with the Mental Health Club and IQAC at the Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to promote mental well-being and resilience among students. Ms. Afsaana M A delivered the welcome address, followed by the inauguration by the Principal, Mr. Feby FAS. The resource person, Rev. Dr. Jiju George Arakkathara, conducted an inspiring session on resilience, optimism, self-awareness, and emotional balance using interactive discussions and real-life examples. The session concluded with student interactions, encouraging the practical application of resilience in daily life.

CLINICAL HYPNOSIS

CLINICAL HYPNOSIS

An academic session on “Clinical Hypnosis” was organized on 19 September 2025 by the Department of Psychology in association with IQAC, the Mental Health Club, and the Psychology Association at Presentation College of Applied Sciences, Puthenvelikara. The programme was conducted from 9:45 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was led by Mr. Jayan Namboodiri, who explained the principles and techniques of clinical hypnosis in a simple and interactive manner. The programme concluded with a discussion session, making it informative and enriching for the students.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS FLASH MOB

As part of World Mental Health Day (October 10), the Department of Psychology organized a Mental Health Awareness Flash Mob on 15 October 2025 at Manancherikunnu, Kerala. Students performed with an awareness banner carrying the message, “Every emergency leaves a mark. Let Mental Health support be part of the healing.” Through music, movement, and coordinated performance, the flash mob highlighted the importance of mental health care during crisis situations. The programme received a positive public response and helped promote awareness and empathy within the community.

VIBE 4 WELLNESS

VIBE 4 WELLNESS

As part of wellness promotion initiatives, Presentation College of Applied Sciences, Puthenvelikkara organized “Vibe 4 Wellness” – a Seminar and Yoga Session on 06 January 2026 in the MLT Hall, in association with IQAC and IIC. The programme aimed to promote holistic well-being by focusing on both mental and physical health. The seminar was led by Dr. Reshmi G, who spoke about mental wellness and healthy lifestyle practices, followed by a yoga session by Ms. Sreelatha Sureshbabu focusing on stress relief and relaxation techniques. The programme was informative and helped students understand the importance of self-care and balanced living.
